Date: 03/12/2005
Location: Cabela’s
Secretary: Jason Titus
Members in attendance were:
John Pozarski, Guy Knudson, Pat Porter, Pat Corrigan, Shane Walock, Wayne Pacyga, Wayne Rice, James Hallmark, Jason Titus, Scott Drawert, Steve Meyer, Mike Juskiewicz Sr., Mike Juskiewicz Jr., Chris Asbeck, Nick Madison, Tony Chmielewski
In addition, potential member Steve Oswald was in attendance and became a member.
The meeting started at 9:30 AM.
Jason will be ordering weigh bags from B.A.S.S. at a cost of $0.50 per bag. We will be placing the 20 bag minimum order. The order will not be placed, however, until Pat C. is able to determine the appropriate address to which BASS correspondence should be sent. John’s will see if his wife can make a straining bag for the scale. The new bags will be given out to assist with the weigh in order, which will be the same as the takeoff order for this year’s tournaments.
Jason provided several copies of the presentation from the banquet on DVD. He will produce more copies for those who requested one but did not receive one.
All members are in good standing with B.A.S.S, with the exception that James’ membership needs to be renewed.
John provided a Federation report. Of interest was the fact that the club was presented with a conservation award at the last meeting for its lake cleanup efforts. He also provided information for anyone wishing to take advantage of the battery discount. Although the discount can be used throughout the year, anyone who can get the order placed before the next Federation meeting can have the batteries picked up at that meeting.
Two Federation votes were circulated for signatures. The first was for a series of bylaw cleanups, and the second was for the creation of an associate Federation membership. These votes require a 75% majority of Federation members’ approval to be passed.
There was also a vote for the 2006 Tournament of Champions lake. The choices were Gull and the Mississippi River. Members voted to cast Gull as the club’s vote at the upcoming Federation meeting.
Pat C. renewed the Secretary of State non-profit status paperwork for 2005.
Leena Lures, of St. Cloud, was announced as a new sponsor. Chris got the relationship established which gives club members a 10% discount on their products. Mention Chris’s name and the club when ordering. The website is: http://leenalures.com/
Guy announced several changes to the website including updates to the links page and additions to the calendar.
John reported on the state of permits for the 2005 lakes. Presently 3 permits have been secured, 1 has been delayed (Chisago) by paperwork, and no permit was attempted for Sarah due to the potential for changing that lake. The club voted to keep the Sarah tournament as originally scheduled.
Each member present signed a tournament rules sheet for the 2005 season. If you were not in attendance, please be sure to do so at the next meeting.
All boaters must provide the declaration from an insurance company by the next meeting. The declaration must specify minimum coverage of 100,000/300,000. A bill from your insurance company is not adequate paperwork. The drawing for partners will take place at the next meeting as well.
Pat C. brought up the idea of establishing a points system for the club. Members expressed the importance of keeping the points independent of qualification for the state tournament. Options were discussed such as providing the points winner with a gift certificate or some other prize instead. Pat will draft a proposal that can be put before the club for a vote.
Several items were collected for the rummage sale. If you have anything for the sale, please bring it to the next meeting. As a reminder, any items not sold at the sale are donated afterward, so you will not get anything back that isn’t sold.
The next meeting will be at Capra's on April 23th at 9:30 am. Please attend the final meeting before the tournament season begins for the pair drawings. Don’t forget to bring your boat insurance paperwork if you are a boater. If you are unable to attend the next meeting, please make sure that you have signed the tournament rules sheet and your insurance declaration is on file (if you are a boater). These items should be taken care of before the next meeting if you cannot attend.
