Golden Hook Bassers Meeting Minutes

Meeting Date: 10/22/2005

Meeting Place: Thorne Bros.

Meeting Time: 9:00

In attendance were the following club members:  Pat C. John, Nick, James, Steve O., Chris, Guy, Jason, Pat P., Steve M., Tony, Mike Sr., Wayne P.

John reviewed the issues from the most recent Federation meeting.  Meeting minutes were sent to all club members via email, so not all issues are included here.  Federation officer elections were done, with the VP spot the only one with multiple candidates.  Rich Lindgren was the club's vote, which will be cast at the next meeting in December.

Our own club elections will be held in December, so nominations were opened for all offices.  The following nominations were submitted:

Fed Rep

John, Tony

Tournament Director

Steve O.

Pat P.

Elections will remain open until the December meeting at which time elections will be held.

James brought a menu from one potential banquet location in St. Paul.  Mike Sr. mentioned another location that he is researching.  At this time, no solid decisions have been made.

Pat explained that he has paid the deposit for lodging at next year's TOC, leaving the treasury low.  It was agreed that the club will need to pursue a sponsor in addition to increasing the dues to $125/year.  Dues should be paid by the next meeting.  Pat has been hoping to get $2500 from a sponsor in exchange for a combination of the following:

  • putting decals on boats and/or tow vehicles
  • putting patches on tournament shirts
  • providing presentations to customers

Capra's was not interested in this proposal.  Other potential sponsors being pursued include Thorne Bros, and Sportsman's Warehouse.

The club still has room for several new members.  If you know of anyone who might be interested, bring them to the next meeting.

The club voted to change from 6 lakes per year to 7, with a single throw-out tournament.  John is collecting nominations for lakes, and is looking for more metro area options specifically.  Bring them to the next meeting if you have any ideas.

The club voted to create two new trophies: most improved and big bass.  Most improved will not be awarded this year, but start next season.

The club voted for several modifications to the SOY points system, in order to make it focus less on angling abilities and more on club participation/leadership.  The points will now be awarded as follows:

  • Place in the tournament: starting at the number of members in the club decrementing by 1 for each place (for example if there are 19 members total, first place would get 19 and second place would get 18 etc.)
  • Big bass will be worth 5 points
  • Attendance at a tournament is worth 25 points
  • Attendance at a club meeting is worth 25 points
  • Attendance at a youth event is worth 25 points
  • Attendance at a conservation event is worth 25 points
  • Wearing a club shirt to a tournament is worth 5 points
  • Serving as a club officer is worth 25 points
  • Successfully signing up a new member is worth 15 points

The next club meeting will be held on November 19th, at 9:30 at Thorne Bros.
