Golden Hook Bassers Meeting Minutes

Meeting Time: 9:30

 

In attendance were the following club members:  Wayne R., Wayne P., Pat C., Guy, Jason, John, Pat P., Tony, James, Steve O., Chris, Steve M.

 

In addition, Ron Oswald attended as a prospective member.

 

It was discussed that we should have an after-tournament get together for club member families this summer.  It was agreed upon that the Medicine Lake tournament would work best, and that we should plan on that.

 

Due to Stearns County insurance requirements for all fishing tournaments, the club will be switching the Koronis tournament to another nearby lake.  The following nominations were made as an alternative: Norway, Nest.  A vote will be held at the next meeting, after any additional nominations are made for alternatives.  Options can also be made available by emailing your suggestion to all club members in advance.

 

The club banquet will be held at The Little Oven on February 25th.  The cost for each attendee will be $13.50.  Mike Sr. is working on getting plaques, and they will be the previous all wood type (as opposed to the marble looking type from last year).  The amount being spent on door prizes will be capped at $200.00, a reduction from last year.

 

John reported on the federation meeting.  In summary:  Jay Green was replaced by Paul Beka as the new president.  There was much discussion regarding the B.A.S.S./Federation situation.  Nothing will happen until the January meeting at Nationals.  Three Elite series tournament entries will be raffled off to federation members.  A voting for was circulated to change the dead fish penalty to a progressive scale.  If the vote passes in the federation, several club members voiced a desire to change the club rules to match.  John was nominated for the region director.  The next federation meeting will be on January 21st at the Medina Ballroom.

 

The website was then discussed.  It was suggested that more information about the club be added, including the “resume” for securing sponsors.  This would help prospective members find out what we are about.  Wayne stated that he had problems accessing some parts of the site, specifically past minutes.  It was agreed that only the current and previous year's worth of pictures would be included on the site, unless there were reason to keep a photo longer.

 

Guy handed out packages for the Simek's fund raiser.  Each member should sell 10 items, and must have order forms and money to Guy by February 12th.  The items will be delivered to club members at the banquet, so bring a cooler to get them home.  The club voted to allow 25 bonus SOY points to the member with the most number of items ordered.

 

Prospective member Ron joined the club, earning Steve O. 25 SOY points.

 

The next club meeting will be held on January 28th, at 9:30 at Capra's
