John ran the meeting in Pat's absence.
John reported on the State Federation business. The 2009 State TOC will be on Pokegama. The date vote for changing the TOC date was not passed, so the date will stay as it is. The alternate's tournament for 2008 will be on pools 5a and 6. The tournament will be run in Wabasha, and the club has rooms at the Wabasha Motel. As of the meeting the club will be eligible to send 8 – 10 members to the club, but members added between now and May 1st will change that number. The federation anglers can get batteries from Battery Central.
The vote to mandate all clubs perform a youth and conservation event did not pass. The club is considering using the creel survey as a conservation event, and everyone is encouraged to do so.
Steve O. gave the tournament director’s report, which was that he is starting the process of getting our lake access permits. Please get your boat insurance paperwork to Steve before the first tournament.
The next meeting will be on April 26th, and at that time partners will be drawn for the season.
There was a re-vote regarding the sportsman of the year award. At the banquet it was voted to abolish the award, but the voting did not count. Discussions were held about how to handle the award and a vote to keep it in a modified form passed unanimously. The changes to the award will result in nominations being open throughout the entire season. Those making a nomination will be required to explain the reason for the nomination. At the last tournament of the year there will be a vote to determine which of the nominees will receive the award.
Steve will be keeping a coffee can at each tournament so you can submit names throughout the year for lakes to be selected the following year. This is to assist with the lake nominating process.
Pat P. will continue to run the big bass pot at the tournaments.
John is working on coordinating an inter-club tournament with a club from the St Cloud area. This would be our final tournament of the year, which does not count toward angler standings. Options of how the tournament would work were discussed (i.e. Each boat would have two members from the same club or one member from each club, etc.), but nothing has been finalized.
The next meeting will be held at Capra's at 9:30 on April 26th. Please bring your boat insurance paperwork.
